THE HISTORY

I love Walt Disney and his movies, but at the same time I have a feeling of grudge against him. I am grateful to him because, thanks to his famous "101" cartoon, I learned to know Dalmatians as other millions of people did. We were in the sixties and these dogs with their unique spotted coat became famous all over the world. Unfortunately, owing to the numerous remakes of the movie, the enormous popularity brought damage to the breed. Dals were produced and imported and sold just for money, destroying the life-lasting selection-work of responsible breeders. A lot of "Pongos" were bought just as living toys to be put under the X-mas tree and then abandoned…This is the reason of my sorrow and resentment.

Gipsy e Urcy
THE FIRST YEARS

In the early seventies I took my children to see
"101 Dalmatians". This was the simple and banal beginning of my Dalmatian life. The day after
and with great enthusiasm I bought a puppy
from Franco Ferrari: "Urcy du Petit Lord" was
born in France, and from the very first day in
my home he infected me with an incurable virus
that still affects me. Two years later, "Urcy" was
joned by "Gipsy delle Valli", my first bitch. They
gave birth to the beautiful "Chinook: this litter
was the first one to have the affix "della Belcora",
as in 1978 ENCI (the Italian Kennel Club) had given me the official affix. From the old photos of that period, I can now tell that they were beautiful dogs. I never showed them, as what mattered to me was to love them and to enjoy living with them.

THE FIRST
"DELLA BELCORA" LITTERS

Breeding early became a real passion.
I bred my fourth litter. Following the
alphabethical order, all puppies' names
started with a "D". I kept "Daisy", the
pick of the litter, a sweet lovely bitch,
who later, mated to the English
Champion "Coachbarn Chevrolet",
had to give me "Erika". "Erika" is my
foundation-bitch, as she gave me my
first champions and left a legacy of
champions in the following generations.
"D", "E", "F", "G"…forward along the
alphabeth… These first subjects are in
the pedigrees of all "della Belcora"
Dalmatians.

THE IMPORTS

Getting more and more involved
in breeding and after contacting
European and America breeders,
I imported three puppy-bitches of
different blood-lines:
they were necessary in order to
have a good foundation stock. At the end of the eighties, "Rhera von Muelenbach" ("Praline") arrived from Germany, "Sugarfrost Continental" ("Polly") from the United States and "Irdally's Ninja" ("Nougatine") from Belgium. At La Belcora all of them became great multi-champions and produced generations of champions.

MY PROGRAMME

I did the first matings using European dogs all sired by an English champion imported in Holland: "CH Paddy Dalmatho from Olbero" who, with my bitches, proved to be a superb stud-dog. In this way all my different blood-lines converged in a LINE-BREEDING that produced and continues to produce good subjects for behaviour, health and conformation.

"GLUCK"

In 1988, after long studying and meditations and, above all, helped by good luck, my beloved "Gluck" was born. His dam was my "Erika", his sire "CH Cadoc von Huis Dalmatho", another son, of course, of that great Olbero champion. "Gluck" was powerful, athletic and elegant at the same time. Though being conforming with the Standard, he changed in a way the idea of Dalmatians in Italy. "Gluck" became Multi-champion and Stud-champion, producing several Champions, like "CH Ivan" (World Champion and twice European-Champion), and "CH Nabucco"
(Top Italian Dalmatian for three consecutive years). His grand-grand-grand children are winning nowadays in the European show-rings.

TODAY

I continue to breed Dalmatians according to a
LINE-BREDING programme, using OUT-CROSSING very rarely, just to introduce new blood in my lines. Above all, I continue to love ALL my Dals as house-pets, even the oldest, now useless great Champions, who shared with me unforgettable emotions. I also have a few new home-bred dogs. I do not have the ambition to import a great Champion bred by someone else and with him, hopefully, win the Best in Shows. I am happy with making my Champions by myself, in a constant research, with tenacity and sacrifice, and above all with a lot of love. In this way I hope to give my contribution to the improvement and development of this wonderful breed.
